This is a special single of "Harpeth" by Michelle Lynn Thompson, with an exclusive instrumental version included as a "B-side".
---A NOTE FROM MICHELLE:
Well… at long last, here she is! My new single, “Harpeth”. I wrote these lyrics while kayaking for the first time down the Harpeth river during the pandemic. I don’t usually kayak alone, but I was having a particularly difficult day and needed to be in nature to clear my head. I was nervous at first, rivers are powerful things. I saw the Harpeth swallow homes during the flood of 2010. There are many dangers in a river, but there is also life and peace. I find the river calls to my soul and soothes me. I don’t specifically name the Harpeth river in this song but I speak of a “place”. The “place” in this song has meant different things to different people. For my daughter it was the mountains, for a friend it was the back road curves of a country road and a Harley Davidson motorcycle. For you it might be a garden, a peaceful path, a house, or a person….. I’m inviting my encouragers and supporters to help me by purchasing this song now before it streams for free. In doing so, you get a beautiful bonus instrumental which is amazing to play while in your soothing place and features, Dan Wheeler on slide guitar, Chris Donohue on bass (did I mention he plays with one of my all time favorites, Emmylou?), Steve Hindalong on percussion, Sam Wade on acoustic guitar and piano, and John J Thompson on harmonica. Since I do not have a label and am doing this completely independently, any funds you offer when you purchase will directly help make it possible for me to record more songs. I’ve been writing a lot and I’m eager to get them into the ears of folks who have been my encouragers on this journey! That means you! Thank you ❤️ - Michelle
LYRICS:
There's something about being alone here in this place
One false move and I'd be gone without a trace
But I can't help but crave your love and all it gives and takes
There's something about being alone
Alone here in this place
Should I risk it all to be with you?
I don't wanna think at all, I just want something true
When you sing to me I feel like there ain't nothin' I can't do
Should I risk it all to be with you
Melody... sing me your melody
And I'll sing mine right back to you
There's something about being alone here in this place
One false move, I'd be gone without a trace
But I can't help but crave your love and all it gives and takes
Oh, you reach right into my soul
Make me wanna risk it all
There's something about being alone
Alone here in this place
